The investigation following the tragic killing of an entire rhino family, a mother and her two calves, in South Africa is ongoing and have resulted in one poacher being arrested.

The operations during Q1 have led to the seizure of:
❗️36 elephant tusks
❗️3 live pangolins
❗️7 leopard skins
❗️4 weapons
❗️146 wire snares
❗️5,8 km of twine fishing nets
❗️Multiple tools like axes, spears and crowbars
❗️48 Ironwood logs from illegally logged trees

During Q1, the Akashinga rangers patrolled 5867 km on foot and 51316 km by vehicle. They mitigated 73 human wildlife conflicts, an important part of the preventative efforts. Our dogs spent a total of 720 hours on foot patrol and 432 hours on rhino monitoring. These hours in the bush for sure saved plenty of lives!

Wildhood support the protection of 3 000 000 hectares of wilderness in South Africa,
Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The work employs 245 female rangers and 6 dogs with their handlers. Thanks to our scholarships 219 children and youths can attend school during 2023.

Thank you to everyone who supports our work, YOU make this possible 💛
