World Female Ranger Week is here!

World Female Ranger Week celebrates female rangers globally. Today, only 11% of rangers are women, but that is changing.
26 June, 2024

Since 2017, the Wildhood Foundation has supported the employment of female park rangers and it is a work that has positive effects beyond the direct climate impact.

Here are some of the ripple effects of employing female rangers:

  • Role Modeling and Inspiration – breaking down gender stereotypes and promoting gender equality!
  • Community Engagement – more inclusive and participatory conservation initiatives.
  • Improved Conservation Outcomes – women bring different perspectives, skills, and approaches to conservation efforts, leading to more innovative and effective solutions for protecting wildlife and natural habitats.
  • Promotion of Gender Equality – equal opportunities for women, helping to create more gender-balanced workforces and leadership structures in these fields.
  • Empowerment – greater economic independence, improved social status, and enhanced decision-making power for women in their communities.
  • Positive Social Change – challenge traditional gender roles and norms, broader social change and shifting perceptions about women’s capabilities!
When supporting Wildhood, your donation goes towards the ranger’s salaries, uniforms and equipment – to keep them going, 365 days a year!
